Final outcome

The final outcome of my poster

For this assignment, i use a water level ruler (dunno the exact name of it) for the main subject of this poster(subject matter). It suits my area of choice, which is the sea level rising.

Why did i choose this thing??because it relate to 'sea level', it shows the level of the sea. What i'm trying to show here is regarding the 'sea rising' issue. My message is to tell the people about the sea level which is rising now without us even noticing it.

My statement@tagline is 'Stop it from getting worse' is meant to aware and remind people about the global warming problem which is on its right track to get worse without any prevention steps taken. I'm also trying to tell on how each of us should act and play our role.

Don't wait for the solution from the higher authority such as government to solve this for us. Let us, the citizen of this earth act on our own, individually. There are lots of efforts can be done individually. For example is as what i've wrote on my poster.

Let's step forward and practice a few simple steps to prevent global warming from getting worse day by day. If all of us contribute a little of effort on this problem, yes, together we can make a difference :) .

The process - part 3

Now, for the ruler reflection on the surface of the sea. First i copy and paste it then rotate it upside down and finally reduce the opacity.

Then i add a background to my poster by creating a rectangle and fill it with gradient as shown above.

The only thing's missing is the 'Text'. I added text and apply a few effects on them.

For this text i duplicate the layer an move it a bit to the right and apply a blur effect. Next i reduce the opacity. This gives me a shadow effect to the text. I also made a border surrounding it by using rounded rectangle tools and use charcoal brush for its stroke.

For this one, i used a 3D effect on it. I also apply drop shadow to it.

Finally, the last step is placing my global warming symbol on the poster and it's done!

The process - part 2

Next is for the water texture. i duplicate the sea layer and place it in front of the original layer then change the fill to white and remove the stroke.

With the layer still selected, i apply the stained glass texture under 'Effect' menu.

Under the 'object' menu, i apply the 'expand appearance'

Next, choose the tracing option, set it as shown above, press ok and then trace it.

After tracing it, i expand it again.

Then, simplify it and use the setting as shown above.

After simplify it, i set the offset path and use the setting above.

So wat's left is the color. change the colour from black to a lighter blue.

Then i adjust its color and opacity a bit until it satisfies me..i also made a copy of it to make it looks better.

The process - part 1

So this is the pic which gave me the idea of water level ruler (i dunno the name of this thing >.<)

By using Pen tools i draw back the ruler by following the reference pic..but i didnt draw it 100% exactly the same..i manipulate the shape a bit. i use gradient for it's fill and brush style stroke.

Then i add the ruler scale using the pen tools. after completing the 5th line, i copy and paste it for a few times to fill off the whole ruler with the scale
.

Then i draw the sea by using the pen tool and fill it with gradient.

Then for the water ripple, i made a circle by using ellipse tool and fill it with gradient with the setting as shown above.

Move and place it under the ruler and flatten it like a shape of an oval.

With the pen tool selected, i made a few outline for the ripple.

Sketch

This is the sketch of my idea..its just a rough sketch..will work on it later in illustrator..

this is how i got the idea at the 1st place..by looking at this pic ;)

Refference for 3rd Assignment

And here are few pictures i found on the net. At least i know how does a poster looks like by looking at these few examples..now i know wat to do.. ;D

Steps

At the first step, i started by creating a square using the rectangle tool.

Secondly, i use Pen Tool to make an almost triangle look alike. This is for the land/beach.

I add few anchor with the Add anchor point tool to make a few curves.

After satisfied with the shape, i adjust the colour of the beach and the sea. For the sea, i used gradient.

I also applied the same thing to the beach for its 'fill'.

Next, i added a green land and made it using the pen tool.

Then i used the rectangle tool again to make a building. I also changed the gradient for the sea as i thought that the previous gradient didn't look good.

I copied the first building i made and paste it for a few times. Then i placed it near each other and i had also adjust the size so it would look more like a city.

For the window, i made a very small square using the rectangle tool and copied it then paste it for many times. After that, i placed it around on each building i've made.

Next, I copied the beach layer and paste it for about 3 times. Then i moved the new copy of layer a bit lower from the original layer.

For this step, i removed the stroke and reduce the opacity for the copied layer to make it looks like the beach is fading into the sea.

Next, i made a big rectangle using the rectangle tool and surround the canvas outline. This is to crop the image.

As seen in the screenshot above, i did that to crop the image so that things outside the outline won't be visible when i export it.

The final outcome.

Reference for the 2nd assignment

Here are few reference pictures for my 2nd assignment that i've found on the net regarding the 'Sea Level Rise' effect.

Coastal population centers at low elevations like New Orleans, Key West, and other spots around the world, are vulnerable to sea level rise. Florida's Key West floods routinely in springtime when tides pulled higher by the new or full moon reach 1.7 feet above mean sea level. 1st Assignment Global Warming Symbol

This is the final outcome of my global warming symbol.

So, rite now i'll be explaining about the symbol i've done here.

My theme is about the rising of sea level caused by Global Warming.

As u can see, the symbol above consists of water drop-shape,an island, and few bubbles. Here's the explaination for each of it :

Water drop-shape : this shape is a symbolize of water which represents the sea water on the earth.

Island : for this island i draw a coconut tree, some fruits and a land to show that this is an island.
this island represents the land on the earth. This island was surrounded by the water drop shape to show that the land is sinking in the water.

Bubbles : Just to make sure that the land will looks more like it's sinking down in the sea.

And for the colours of course it is to show the attributes of my shapes.Blue is for water, green is for the land and leaves while brown is the colour of coconut tree. ^^

So, what i'm trying to show here is that the land on the earth might be sunken down into the sea due to the rising of sea level caused by global warming. As u can see from my symbol above, i'm trying to create an awareness about the danger of sea rising effects to us.

That's it!! I've finally finished my 1st assignment!! ^^
